New Kicks

It's funny how teeny, tiny Vans can make Sophie look like a big girl. Gigi bought these for Sophie a few weeks back but we've been waiting for her miniature feet to grow into them. They are still a little big for her but I just couldn't resist any longer!

Even Sophie's Baby Loves Cee Lo

I know I keep posting videos of Sophie dancing to the same song. I just can't help it. She hears it anywhere we are (the car, a store, at home, anywhere!) and just starts swaying. Today she was teaching her baby to dance and then decided she wanted to add some drumming to the music. Silly girl

The Times They Are A-Changin'

It's easy to sometimes lose perspective on just how quickly life goes by. With Sophie, I am now constantly reminded because she changes before my eyes daily. The photo strips below are a perfect example of how quickly kids grow. The first set on the left is me and Madi along with Risa and Vida. The set in the middle is just a couple of years later with Lea now in the picture. And on the right, Risa, Vida and Lea, all grown up looking, with our little Sophie. What a difference ten years makes.

Now finally on to the birthday party pics! There are way too many wonderful pictures from Sophie's birthday party to share here. But below is just a taste of all the fun she (we) had with lots of family and friends to help her (us) celebrate.

Cake Smash

So after a morning at the pumpkin patch, some presents, a fun girls' lunch with me and both of her grandmas, Sophie finally had the chance to taste her first cake. I made a mini layer cake for her with pink whipped cream frosting. She was unsure about it at first, even dainty about tasting the frosting, but eventually dug in.

Sophie opened a few presents on her birthday morning just to start things off right. She had a lot of fun ripping the paper and sticking the bow on her dad. A little piano, a slide, a bye bye car and a big back of blocks were just a few of the exciting new things she opened on Friday. 

It's the Great Pumpkin, Sophie Kemps

Sophie's birthday weekend extravaganza started off with a visit to the pumpkin patch. On her birthday morning, I took her to The Pumpkin King to select a pumpkin or two for Halloween. She had a great time pointing at the ponies, climbing hay bales, drumming on big pumpkins and picking out an assortment of little pumpkins.

P.S. Did anyone catch my title reference?

Tapped Out

We had an amazing weekend celebrating Sophie's birthday in a big way! I have lots of pictures to share from the weekend, but for now a picture of how she ended the weekend. She partied until all the guests had gone home.

More Outtakes

So I stole the idea of taking photos of Sophie with letters spelling out the word "ONE" from a pin I saw on Pinterest. Are you all pinning by the way? It's completely addicting. You can follow my boards if you do pin. Anyways, I tried it a few different ways and thought the set up below was super cute, but couldn't get a smile or even an "oooohh" face out of Sophie. She was too busy with her new cookie baking set from her friends Kendall and Katelyn. I got a few serious shots and then she just got bored of the whole thing, as you can see below.

Today Is The Day!

Our sweet baby Sophie is one year old today! She has brought us so much joy, laughter and even anxiety over the last year and we've loved every second of it. We feel so blessed to have her in our lives and we are so proud and amazed of the smart, funny, loving little girl she is becoming right before our eyes. Happy birthday Sophie! We love you so much!
