Bring on Spring

After too much rain, Sophie is ready for some short sleeves and sunshine!

Oh Yes, I Did

I broke down and bought Sophie some jeggings. Actually, I should say that I caved to the idea of jeggings, then became sort of obsessed with them and it took me a while to actually find them in her size. With all the  wiggling she does, it seemed to me that true jeans would be stiff and uncomfortable. This little pair of jeggings is really just a pair of cotton leggings styled and stitched to look like jeans. They are the baby version of what I imagine the infamous Pajama Jeans would feel like. And how cute is that little bum in jeggings?

Highchair Time

After rice cereal, sweet potatoes and bananas, we've now moved on to carrots. It seemed with all these new foods, that it was time to finally bring out the highchair. Sophie looks like such a big girl sitting in it!

Rockin' and Rollin', and Talking Too!

Over the last week, Sophie has been practicing her rolling and is now an expert at rolling from her back to front in both directions. She does it all on her own without prompting. In fact, I can hardly even get a picture of her on her back anymore before she's already flipping the other way. If I look away from one second she goes from this

Below is a funny little where it still took her a couple of tries

Sweet Potatoes are a Hit!

Since Sophie's been enjoying the rice cereal for a couple of weeks now, we decided to move on to more exciting foods. The other night she got her first taste of sweet potatoes. I used my Beaba Babycook to whip up a batch and she loved them.

Learning to love my sister

Sophie is noticing Lulu more and more, reaching out to touch her sometimes or just watching her with curiosity.

I love her

And I think she may just love me back. This felt like a special smile just for me but I had to share it. Happy 5 month old birthday to my baby Sophie!

Milestone alert! Sophie rolled herself from her back to her tummy all by herself for the first time last night. She's been getting so close for a while now, and just figured out how to get that second arm out from under her.

Girls! Girls! Girls!

Last weekend, Sophie enjoyed her first girls' road trip! In a family full of girls, it was hopefully only the first of many. My mom, Madi, Sophie and I first drove to Los Angeles to pick up Libby, who is visiting from school in Rochester, NY, then we headed to Santa Barbara for a three day weekend of eating, shopping and girly good fun.

Welcome to the Jungle

This is the exactly the sort of product that I swore I would never buy when I was pregnant. I carefully registered for tasteful, neutral colored car seats, bouncy seats, highchairs and swings.  I picked out things in beige, grey and cute calming patterns.

How silly I was! I learned my first lesson when Sophie hated her first swing. It was so cute, all grey and yellow and looked sweet in my living room. The darn thing only went front to back though and hardly any doo dads dangling from it. After reading tons of reviews on Diapers.com,  I caved and I ordered the Fisher Price My Little Lamb Dreamy Motions Cradle Swing. Even the name annoyed me! The colors weren't bad though and thanks to Diapers.com's overnight shipping, I had it within 24 hours and could finally put Sophie down for a few minutes to check my email or make some lunch. It was also a lifesaver when she was sick and it was the only place she could peacefully sleep because it kept her slightly inclined.

So as Sophie started getting bored of laying on her back all the time, the sweet little Pottery Barn play mat just wasn't going to cut it anymore. I started to look around for what the next baby contraption would be. My friend Jessica has this Evenflo exersaucer and highly recommended it. She says Wyatt loves it. It has everything I hate. It's brightly colored, jungle themed, and makes tons of noises! Again, it got great reviews on Diapers.com so I shopped around a little, found it cheaper on Amazon.com and two days later its sitting in my office and is a huge hit!

So I've learned my lesson. Its not about me and what I like, its all about Sophie!
