Bored Sophie

We spent a great weekend in Carlsbad, attending the wedding of friends. We swam, we shopped, we hung with friends, we ate all weekend. We had a blast. Unfortunately we hit traffic on the way home and it took us 7 hours to get back home! This was Sophie's longest car trip and she got a little stir crazy. This is how a bored baby tries to entertain herself on a long ride.

Ooh La La

The French really know how to do some things right. The bread. The cheese. The teething biscuits? Apparently so. Sophie loves these French teething biscuits from Whole Foods. I love the fact that they don't crumble and don't turn into a dangerous, mushy, peanut-buttery consistency like some others that I've been warned against. Being the nervous mommy that I am, these ones make me happy.

The French packaging and marketing leaves a little something to be desired however. Creepy baby right?

You Are My Sunshine, My Only Sunshine

You make me happy when skies are gray.

This was always a favorite song in my household growing up.

We Need A Fedora ASAP

Don't you think? Sophie borrowed this one from her friend Wyatt.

Nuts About Nutmeg

Wholesome Baby Food tells me that 8 months is about the right time to start introducing some herbs and spices to Sophie's food. So because they say so, I sprinkled a tiny bit of nutmeg into the pumpkin/banana mixture Sophie was having for dinner. Before you can say say eww, I actually tasted it and thought it was good too. I taste all of her homemade food before I give it to her (except the turkey paste, there is no way I'm tasting that mush.)  It was a huge hit. Sophie gobbled it all up and licked her bowl clean.

Welcome Home

These are the faces Sophie uses to greet Chase when he gets home from work. Loud, proud and happy to have her daddy home.

A Day at the Zoo

We took Sophie, our little animal lover, to the zoo for the first time this past weekend. So far she's been a big lover of dogs and birds but is a little skeptical of cats. We checked out all the usual characters but didn't spend too much time near the big cats, just to be safe.

Oohing at the zebra

Pretty in Purple

After cleaning out Sophie's closet, I couldn't resist picking up a couple of cute new things including this purple tank top on super sale at Children's Place.

Can't Hold Her Down

This little mover and shaker is all over the place these days. It takes an army of toys around her to keep her in one spot long enough for me to check my email, post a blog and have a little coffee in the morning. We'll be quickly finishing up the babyproofing this weekend.

Farmer's Market Booty

Last week, we came home with several bags of produce from the Farmer's Market. Sophie's favorite seemed to be the apricot. She's mostly still spoon feeding but we're starting to experiment with a little self feeding and she had a great time with this one. I think only a bite or two actually made it in, but a slippery, peeled apricot made an excellent toy!

So Close

Sophie is a girl who is ready to be on the move! She's showing all the signs of getting ready to crawl. She rocks back and forth, gets herself up on her hands and knees and seems so close sometimes. For right now, the only direction we seem to be going is backwards but we know its only a matter of time.
